ICOMOS Meetings in Bergen, Norway

The ICOMOS governing bodies met in the Bryggen Museum in the World Heritage city of Bergen, Norway, September 4-10, 2004.  The event included meetings of the Executive Committee, the Advisory Committee, and a two-day strategic planning retreat for the International Scientific Committees (ISCs) of ICOMOS.

The delegations present were as follows:  from the Americas – Canada, Mexico, the United States, and Uruguay; from Africa – Ivory Coast, South Africa, and Zambia; from Asia – Austrealia, Bangladesh, China, Israel, Japan, and Sri Lanka; from Europe – Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

US/ICOMOS participants included John Fowler (Chairman, US/ICOMOS Board of Trustees), Gustavo Araoz (US/ICOMOS Executive Director and ICOMOS Vice President), Pamela Jerome (US/ICOMOS Board of Trustees and representative to the Scientific Committee retreat representing the Earthen Architecture committee).
